A SHOOTING START TO NEW NC INTEREST GROUP
With a simple flyer going out to residents staying at Springleaf, Thong Soon, Springside and Hong Heng estates a week before 27th June 2009, the somewhat tucked-away football field at Springleaf Road came alive with a small group of residents comprising of youngsters, parents and even grandparents to attend the soft launch of a brand new interest group.
Following numerous requests from residents made to our MP Er Lee Bee Wah, the Nee Soon South Springleaf NC partnered Japan's SHOOT Football Academy to launch a weekly session of football training and game. The younger residents, age ranging from 5 to 13 year-olds, enjoyed the session with four coaches in attendance guiding the participants with various basic and foundational skills in structured but fun manner ending with a game.
Six little 6-year old from the Japanese International School also came in full soccer attire to show off their skills and mastery. Relative to their age, they displayed great discipline and mastery of the sport and clearly showed the benefits of having undergone proper professional coaching with the SHOOT ACADEMY of Japan. Managing Director, Mr Frank Kobayashi was on hand to show the participants the finer points of the sport and even adult residents went on to join the game. Looking forward, SNC will organize friendly matches and exhibition games for our residents when the number in this interest group builds up.

Parents Honoured with Colors
Parents’ Night at Nee Soon South was celebrated with a feast, music and entertainment that added luminous colours to all the proud parents who turned up with their love-ones at the CC Multi Purpose Hall. Organised by NSS CCC, the annual event seek to honour and pay tribute to all those who are laden with the load of playing the parental role – acknowledging their sacrifice, perseverance and responsibilities in bringing up good & strongly bonded families.

Fun Bowling 3 May 2009
Representing teams from NSS CCC, CCMC, RCs, NCs, YEC, MAEC, WEC, Yishun Junior College, Naval Base Primary, Town Council, HDB, Neighbourhood Police Centre, PA and Ahmad Ibrahim Mosque, the bowlers rolled, laughed and high-fived their way through the three hour event in between booby prizes given out to bowlers with strike connections, spares and even misses.

Bundles of Joy On Show 12 Apr 2009
Organised by Nee Soon South CC Women’s Wing, a delightful and proud group of parents cradled and ferried some 57 infants & toddlers to the show where doctors examined their health, responsiveness and weight – in search for the Champion Baby. All champion winners will be featured in June Young Parents magazine for public voting and all champion winners will meet for showdown during Young Parents Fiesta at Marina Square, date of which is to be advised.

Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan Drops in for a Visit

The Minister of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) arrived at 9.00am sharp with an entourage comprising of MPs for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Er Lee Bee Wah, Dr Lam Pin Min and Grassroots Leaders in tow. Greeted by a pair of prancing lions and garlanded by young children of the private estates, the Minister lost no time in engaging the residents with handshakes, smiles and conversations.

Minister Touches Base with Nee Soon South

After the morning visit to the private estate of Thong Soon Garden, Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan was escorted to Nee Soon South Celebration Square where the annual Community Day event was in progress. Residents and grassroots leaders greeted him as he walked through a capacity crowd that have earlier gathered to participate in a wide array of activities.
