Dear Residents,

Alas the mid-year school holiday season has come and gone. Now we are back to the routines. Allow me to draw attention to the reports of sporadic outbreaks of fire. Do take precautions. If you have to dispose of your rubbish, do it properly in the chute. Otherwise it may not only pose a fire hazard but create a health issue.

Let us live graciously as a community. Those who are riding bicycles or even driving cars, do look out for pedestrians. Do stop for others at road junctions and zebra crossings. Follow the road safety rules closely and everyone can enjoy peace of mind.

In a month’s time, we will be celebrating National Day. This is a time for all Singaporeans to reflect on our progress, and appreciate the challenges we went through together and how we arrived at our achievements today. It has not been a smooth ride; there have been many ups and downs, from economic, political, to social and others. We have gotten through them because we were united.

Let us make a conscious effort to never allow the terrorists and extremists to create distrust among us. In the run up to National Day, let’s protect and celebrate our Singaporean identity. Take out our national flag and proudly display it outside our homes. Singaporeans from all walks of life will be flying the same flag. Let us send a powerful message to everyone.

As part of the celebrations, there will be a National Day dinner on 5 August. Tickets are on sale at the Community Club. On the morning of 9 August, there will be a National Day Observance Ceremony. I hope to see all of you there.

Finally, mark your calendars and join me at the following events:

  • 16 July: Golf for residents
  • 22 July: Racial Harmony Day
  • 29 July: Nee Soon GRC Fiesta 3Ten Run
  • 6 August: Litter picking

Let us bring out our Singapore flags and fly them high!
